About

Literary Rides

Literary Rides is an educational brand built at the intersection of rigorous academic scholarship and accessible digital education. It is the platform through which Dr. Vishwanath Bite — PhD scholar, Assistant Professor, journal founder, and author — reaches students beyond the classroom: through free apps, a global podcast, two YouTube channels, and two internationally indexed research journals. The name carries a simple idea: that the journey through literature is one worth taking, and that no student should be left at the side of the road.

The Teacher Who
Built the Platform.

“When you light one lamp, that person goes on to light countless others. That is why I built Literary Rides — not just to teach, but to build the platform that keeps teaching long after I leave the room.”

How Literary Rides Was Built

What began as a simple blog sharing class notes with students has grown into a full educational ecosystem — journals, YouTube channels, a podcast with listeners in 55+ countries, and a suite of free apps. Here is how it happened.

2006 – 2009

The Foundation

Completed M.A. (2006) and PhD (2009) from Shivaji University, Kolhapur, with a specialisation in Indian Writing in English, Indian English Drama, and Postcolonial Literature. Began teaching at Matoshri Bayabai Kadam Mahavidyalaya, Kadegaon, then Government colleges in Mumbai and Kolhapur. Started a simple blog sharing study notes — it reached 4,000 subscribers through word of mouth alone.

2010 – 2012

Building Publishing Infrastructure

Founded The Criterion: An International Journal in English (ISSN 0976-8165) in 2010 — giving researchers and emerging scholars an accessible, peer-reviewed platform at a time when quality academic publishing was expensive and gatekept. Two years later, launched Galaxy: International Multidisciplinary Research Journal (ISSN 2278-9529) to serve researchers across all disciplines. Both journals are still actively publishing today, over a decade later.

2017 – 2020

Taking Teaching to YouTube

Launched the Literary Rides YouTube channel to reach students beyond the classroom. What began as supplementary lecture recordings grew into a comprehensive free library — literary theory, UGC NET preparation, grammar, close reading, exam strategy. A second channel, Teaching with Technology, was launched for educators wanting to integrate digital tools into their classrooms. Combined, the channels now serve 9,810+ subscribers across 470 videos.

2020 – 2024

The Literary Rides Brand

Rebranded from Dr. Vishwanath Bite to Literary Rides — making the content more approachable for students while retaining the academic credibility behind it. Launched the Literary Rides Podcast, now at 92 episodes with listeners in 55+ countries including USA (26%), India (21%), UK (8%), Germany (7%), and Morocco (5%). Expanded to Instagram, Facebook communities, and a multi-platform content strategy.

2025 – Present

The App Suite Begins

Launched VocabPro — a gamified vocabulary app with 6,126 curated items, 11 quiz modes, SM-2 spaced repetition, and full offline support. Available on the web and Google Play Store, completely free. The first of six planned apps in the Literary Rides suite, designed to give competitive exam aspirants the tools they need without any cost barrier.

Now

Still Building

Appointed as Assistant Professor of English at Government Vidarbha Institute of Science and Humanities, Amravati. Continuing to teach at postgraduate level, manage two international journals, publish 3 podcast episodes per week, and build the next apps in the suite — GrammarPro, SpeakPro, ReadingPro, UGC NET Pro, and MockTestPro. The mission has not changed since that first blog post: light as many lamps as possible.
